Do you need a venue to celebrate a cultural or creative event or a space to perform in? If so, we’d love to hear from you…
Every year we continue to grow opportunities for communities to deliver their own events and perform in our spaces. You tell us that having space to share stories, art, conversation, music and much more is vital to you and your community. We would like to provide the space for communities to share their history, culture, and their collective stories and welcome applications from all, no matter how you are defined.
Events and performances will be programmed through our participatory budgeting model whereby all applicants vote on which application they feel best fits the brief. This is to ensure that our programme is democratically created by you, the community.
Community events
This year we are sharing our Glanfa and Cabaret spaces with you over three dates; both spaces are the perfect back drop for any event and come alive when communities programme and perform in them.
Glanfa
The Glanfa is our large public space in the south of the building and has held large events and banquets.
Application details
Dates available: Either July 14 or 15 December 2024
Deadline for applications: 24 May for both dates - we will only programme one
Budget: £3500
Cabaret
Cabaret is a smaller, intimate space with its own mixed toilets, cloakroom, stage and bar area.
Application details
Dates available: Friday 8 November 2024 and 7 March 2025
Deadline for applications: 6 September 2024
Budget: £1750 each
The type of events we’ve commissioned in the past range from Diwali, Windrush celebrations, International Women’s Day, Shab e Yalda, Wales Affrica festival and Black History Month.
Community Performance
We love to fill the Glanfa public space with creativity and are therefore inviting artists and performers to take to our stage and welcome audiences to the building.
On the first Saturday of the month, we are programming performances to welcome audiences to the show that day. Please note that we are only able to accommodate acts that do not need technical support.
Please note: The Glanfa stage slots are offered on a no-fee basis.

There will be a break over the summer to accommodate other programmed activity in the space.
