We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new season of groundbreaking immersive experiences at Wales Millennium Centre, our dedicated multi-sensory exhibition space designed specifically for XR (Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality, and Augmented Reality) installations.
This season’s programme will explore themes of desire, identity, and nostalgia, bringing together five exciting new commissions. Located on the ground floor of our building in Cardiff Bay, Bocs offers an intimate and unique setting for these innovative experiences.
One of the key highlights of the season is Impulse: Playing with Reality, a 40-minute mixed reality experience from the award-winning Anagram studio, narrated by Tilda Swinton. Winner of the Venice Immersive Achievement Award, this moving piece explores ADHD through the powerful stories of four individuals, challenging perceptions and helping to deepen understanding of the condition.
"Bocs is such an important venue for artists and studios like ours. It’s a space that understands the significance of showcasing XR works, attracting new audiences, and supporting innovative artists. We’re proud to be part of Wales Millennium Centre’s mission to make world-class art accessible, particularly through their outreach programmes and Pay What You Can model. After debuting Goliath at Bocs three years ago, it’s wonderful to return with Impulse to kick off this exciting new season."
Kirsty Jennings, Managing Director, Anagram
A Commitment to Accessibility and Inclusivity
We’re deeply committed to making Impulse as inclusive and accessible as possible. To ensure that everyone can engage with this impactful experience, we’re offering tickets on a Pay What You Can basis, with options at £2, £5, or £8. This allows us to make the experience accessible to a wide range of audiences, regardless of financial circumstances.
Our venue is fully wheelchair accessible, and trained facilitators will be on hand to provide support and guidance for anyone who may need assistance during the experience.
“As we enter our third year of immersive programming at Wales Millennium Centre, we’re incredibly excited to launch our 2025–2026 season. We’ve invited artists whose work explores the intersection of art, storytelling, and technology, and we can’t wait to bring these boundary-pushing experiences to our audiences. Bocs continues to be a place where shared, participatory storytelling sparks dialogue and invites everyone to contribute to the experience.”

A Season of Groundbreaking Immersive Storytelling
At Bocs, we continue to explore new ways of telling stories using immersive technology. For the 2025–2026 season, we’re presenting a series of bold, boundary-pushing experiences, including the UK premieres of Monsieur Vincent, an immersive journey into the emotional world of Vincent van Gogh's art, Ceci est mon coeur by Nicolas Blies and Stéphane Hueber-Blies, a multi-sensory exploration of a child's journey of reconciliation with their body, and Rose Bond’s Earths to Come, a communal VR theatre piece inspired by an Emily Dickinson poem. We’re also bringing back a reimagined version of the award-winning In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats, by Darren Emerson & East City Films, inviting audiences to relive the electrifying 1989 Acid House rave scene.
